Big walk tips and tricks
Getting started: what to expect in Big Walk

Big Walk is a cooperative online walker-talker from House House and Panic, the teams behind Untitled Goose Game. It launches on August 4, 2026 at $14.99, and the whole pitch fits in one line: hang out and get lost with close friends in a big world.
Hang out and get lost with close friends in a big world.
Before your first session, it helps to set expectations:
- There is no timer pressure. Big Walk is playable without timed input, so every climb, ride, and detour can happen at your own pace.
- You can save anytime. This makes short sessions with friends completely viable, and Steam Cloud keeps your progress synced between machines.
- The game launches as a full release on day one, with no early access period and no demo. August 4, 2026 is the real start.
- Check your PC specs before playing. The minimum requirements call for Windows 10, an Intel Core i7-7700K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X,12 GB RAM, and a GTX 750 Ti, R7 370, or Intel Arc A380. The recommended setup moves up to Windows 11, an i5-10600K or Ryzen 7 3700X,16 GB RAM, and a GTX 1070, RX 5600 XT, or Arc A750.
- Big Walk has full controller support, so grab a pad if that is your preference. The relaxed pace means keyboard and controller both feel natural.
Exploration and navigation tips
Exploration is the core of Big Walk. The world is built to be wandered, not rushed, and some of the best moments come from stumbling onto something interesting with a friend. A couple of navigation habits will keep you from going in circles.
- Unlock Big View early by opening the map. Checking the map whenever you feel lost is the best habit you can build, and it doubles as a free achievement.
- Read the world with landmarks. A distinctive rock, tower, or tunnel entrance is a more reliable reference than "left" or "right" in a world this size.
- Cross the drawbridge early to earn Big Walk. It is both an achievement and a natural gateway to fresh areas.
- Hunt the edges of the map.Big Tunnel requires entering a big tunnel, and Big Wall asks you to go beyond the wall, so make those two locations early goals.
If you keep losing track of your friends, enable Color Alternatives in the settings. The stronger contrast makes each player character pop against the environment, which helps a lot in busy or overgrown areas.
Movement and traversal: chairlifts, trains, and more
Getting around the big world is half the game. Big Walk mixes on-foot movement with rideable transport, and each option is worth trying even if it is not the fastest route between two points.
- Chairlift: Hop on to unlock Big Sit and get a bird's-eye view of the terrain. Use it to scout where you and your friends should head next.
- Train: Riding the train earns Big Ride and covers long distances quickly. Look for stations or waiting areas while you explore.
- Big Climb: Reach the highest point in the world. Climbing is more about route-finding than speed, so look for natural ramps, ledges, and stacked terrain.
- Take the scenic route at least once. A chairlift or train ride early on is the fastest way to build a mental map of the world.
Because traversal is untimed, there is no penalty for attempting a weird line up a cliff and sliding back down. Every failed climb teaches you something about the route.
Co-op tips: playing with friends
Big Walk is built entirely around online co-op, and it supports cross-platform multiplayer, so your group can roam together no matter what platform each person is on.
- Keep talking. As a walker-talker game, the main tool for deciding where to go next is your voice chat or whatever call your group uses.
- Splitting up can be smart. One friend scouts ahead on the train while another checks out a tunnel, then everyone regroups at a landmark.
- Adjust the Camera Comfort options before a long session. Tuning camera movement to your preference keeps group wandering comfortable.
- Use Adjustable Difficulty if your group has mixed experience levels. The game is relaxed by design, but a quick tuning pass lets everyone enjoy it without frustration.
Agree on a meeting point before anyone splits off. A chairlift top, a train station, or the map itself are all natural regroup spots for a scattered group.
Character customization and achievements
Big Walk includes 12 achievements, and several of them double as a light customization checklist. If you want a loose guide for your first playthrough, chase these:
- Big Pack: Wear a backpack. Likely one of the earliest customization achievements you will trigger.
- Big Help: Wear something on your hip. Another simple one that changes how your character reads on screen.
- Big Makeover: Get shiny. Experiment with anything that alters your appearance.
- Big Goodbye and Big Game have no public descriptions yet, so discovering their conditions is part of the fun.
Treat the achievement list as a gentle to-do list, not a grind. Because each one ties to a real activity, crossing the drawbridge, riding the chairlift, or entering that big tunnel, working through them naturally shows you most of what the world has to offer.
